Antique 18th c. Russian Orthodox Pewter Lead Cross Crucifix CHI RHO Christogram Pendant
For your consideration is an authentic early religious pendant from Czarist Russia
Christian Orthodox Cross cast and shaped out of lead or pewter like alloy
It bears in the middle the Chi Rho monogram or Christogram of the Byzantine Empire (aka Chrismon). The Crossbars are filled with inscriptions and monograms in Cyrillic
For reference, the Russian Orthodox Church is styling itself as the only legit heir of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Russian Patriarch thus being the De Facto Ecclesiastical Patriarch. This is in line with the Russian Imperial claims to fully inherit the fallen to Turks in 1453 Bizantine Empire (arguable)
