Vintage Cat Kitten Otagiri Mercantile Company Japan Stoneware Mug

Description

Otagiri Mercantile Company was a Japanese-American manufacturer of stoneware ceramics as far back as the 1940s. The US headquarters was San Francisco, but much of the stoneware was hand-painted and glazed by artists in Japan. Original Otagiri Ceramics can carry a sticker with the words "Hand Crafted Otagiri Japan" on the bottom. This mug has that sticker.
Otagiri made many tiki mugs and glasses, but this is a standard mug for coffee or tea. The mug itself is approx 3.75 inches tall and the mouth is approx 3.25 inches across. The striped white cat on the mug is wearing a light brown bow tie.
