Description

Up for sale is an exceptional antique English pewter tankard which was originally awarded as a trophy. This large mug has a tapered body; ascending raised circular bands at the base; perfectly formed and comfortable grip; and a glass bottom.
The beautifully scripted details of where and when it was awarded as a prize are engraved on the front. The hand engraving reads:
11th MIDDLESEX RIFLES
Monthly Cup Competition
Won by

1884.
The makers initials are stamped in the back near the handle, as is the Pint Mark issued by the Royal Customs.
