the cup
this has never been used: only stored. pretty adorable enviably sleeping deeply kitty unaware of the mouse party going on around him. the mice on the cup are pretty darn adorable too. the cup is 4 1/4" tall. the lip slightly flairs outward. it is 3 7/8" in diameter. from the outermost part of the handle to the opposite rim is 4 1/4".
the interior of the cup has the words «fast asleep» flanked by two mice in a hootenanny. the handle has the words «meow» «purr» «meow». close to the rim of the cup, in the outside, intersperced with gleeful mice, it reads «fast asleep and far away» «cat is napping. mice will play».
the base provides this information (see last image): a maker's mark for kent pottery, though i am not entirely sure
which
kent pottery. i was able to find almost nothing about that pottery. i think under that name reads, in the shield, «1887», i presume for the founding of the pottery. under that in the banner looks like something in latin, though i cannot discern what that is.

the kent pottery purchased old molds and re-case many podels in the early 1900s, and even today reproductions are coming from england and asia.
