    Description

Imperial Russian soldier's cap with 1918 RKKA star
Summer issue linen soldier's M1907 cap with 1918 Red Army star instead of Imperial/Provisional cockade.
I have listed this cap as an Imperial Army cap rather than Red Army as it is well known that the Red Army used existing materials from the Imperial Army, only adding their own insignia in the early years of the Civil war.  The cap lining has an acceptance stamp with a 1917 date (photo 7)
Faded khaki coloured linen cap with natural coloured rough linen lining. The stiffening band has been broken,(photo 6) probably from storage use, but the fibre-board visor remains intact, with only slight paint loss to the exterior and slightly more to the underside.(photo5) Star/cockade shows traces of original red paint.(photo 8)
The cap has a rather flattened appearance; (photos 3,4 and 8) photos 1 and 4 show it on a hat block to give a better idea of it's shape and the piping on top of the band, not visible otherwise.
