Medal Red Cross Medal "In Commemoration of the Russian-Japanese War"
The Red Cross Medal "In Commemoration of the Russo-Japanese War" is a medal of the Russian Empire for awarding persons who took part in the activities of the Russian Red Cross during the Russo-Japanese War . Established on January 19 ( February 1 ) 1906 by decree of Emperor Nicholas II
The metal from which the medal is made is silver . The diameter is 24-25 mm, less often the variants of the medal with a diameter of 28 or 21 mm are common [2] [4] . On the obverse of the medal is a flat, less often curved cross, filled with red enamel . The structure of the enamel field on the medal cross may also vary. There are background options in the form of narrow dashed rays going from the center to the edges or in the form of small rectangles diverging from the center to the sides of the cross. On the reverse side of the medal there are relief inscriptions: " RUSSIAN-JAPANESE " - in a semicircle at the top of the medal, " 1904-1905 " - horizontally in the middle and " WAR " - at the bottom of the medal [2] [3] [4] .
The medal was minted by order of the Red Cross Society exclusively by private firms [2] [6] . According to some data [6] , minting of medals at the courtyard was impossible due to the fact that enamel works were not carried out there.
