English Crystal Glass Steeplechase Jumping Horse & Rider Beer Tankard Stein Mug

We are pleased to offer this very unique crystal ale tankard most likely manufactured in England. It features a colorful hand painted design of a horse rider enjoying a steeplechase. He is wearing traditional riding attire including red jacket and black bowler hat. He is riding a white horse and is easily clearing a brown wooden fence.
Horse riding in the 18th century was a pleasure enjoyed by both men and women and was highly recommended as being good for one's health.
This gentleman rider may well be a character from a Victorian era novel or art print as he is depicted in caricature. Perhaps he was inspired by the wonderful English Victorian book called "Jorrocks Jaunts" that was a humorous account of fox hunting and its perils.
This 22 oz beer stein stands 5-1/8" tall. It measures 3-1/4" wide at the rim and 3-5/8" wide at the base. It has an applied handle and green trim on the rim. It has a scratch on the bottom; otherwise it is
in excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks or design wear. Just a fun piece that is sure to delight the favorite equestrian in your life.
