Antique 1800's Russian Orthodox Bronze & Enamel Icon/Cross

Offered for sale is a beautiful antique ( 19th century) Russian Orthodox bronze and  polychrome enamel icon/cross. It features the Byzantine cross in the center, surrounded by detailed scenes of 20  festivities that occur throughout the Russian Orthodox religious year. Included are 16 great feasts which celebrate episodes of the Old and New Testament. The Skull of Adam is near the bottom, and the bars (representing rays) at the top are each decorated with six-winged angels. The polychrome enamel is in dark blue, light blue, and white. The piece is in overall very good condition with wear consistent with age and use - minor surface wear and minor pitting (see photos). The icon/cross measures 15" high, and 9" wide, and weighs approximately 5 pounds.
