Highway Motors of Roanoke rebuilt the engine (inframe) 5 years ago. The truck is a rare find usually when they are found they have many miles on them and have been worked hard. These municipalities that sell them are extremely honest in their description. They said "Truck runs but has a bad miss in engine. Condition is good, condition of paint is good, interior is good, tires are good". After i bought it I had it taken to the International Dealer and they replaced a fuel primer, 2 batteries, a wheel seal and brake linings.

I have bought several cars and trucks from municipalities, counties and state governments.  I have found their maintenance to be exceptional.  The condition of some of the user components like seats and inside of cabs are sometimes less maintained than the private sector.  Overall it is my opinion that you get more for your money in a used piece of equipment from these sources than the traditional sources.  We, as buyers, have to still "cherry pick" the good ones because it is easy to overpay for them.  I literally look at thousands over the course of a week.
This one, for example, the engine was rebuilt (inframed) 5 years ago.
These sell for about ,000 - ,000 if in good condition and not high in miles.  Easy fixes for the rust and hydraulic issues.
