Up for auction is this risque, very unique and RARE funny face peek-a-boo mug of a young lady with exposed breasts. Funny face Jugs and later mugs are an English & American folk art form since the 1700s and now are highly collectible. This lovely and vintage
glazed earthenware mug
was hand crafted sometime in the 1970s-'80s by an artist with W.D. initials. I believe this item was inspired by similar works by well renowned potter Robert Eakins. W.D was probably an artist who worked at Mahon Pottery in Fountain Valley California or worked at some other pottery house which used "two stars" as makers marks as seen on the base of the handle in the photos. That said, he could have also have been working independently somewhere in California. With further research you might find more information on its maker.
This mug, with it's very attractive design is just perfect and without any issues other than minor typical shelf scuffing on the bottom end. Its ready to join your Funny/Ugly Face Mug collection or risque collectibles. Please look over photos carefully as they are part of description and ask any question before bidding.
